Former Ralph Lauren model Filippa Hamilton is 5′ 10″ and 120 pounds
This Today Show Interview is shocking and awful! The article reads that Filippa has worked for Ralph Lauren for 8 y
ears, since she was 15 years of age. Ralph Lauren cancelled her modeling contract citing that Filippa no longer fit Lauren’s sample sizes used for runway fashion shows. Fashion shows used to have more curvy models like Cindy Crawford, Tyra Banks and Rachel Hunter – if you can even call them curvy! Over recent years, sample sizes have dropped from normal small sizes 2 – 4 and sometimes 6, to ultra thin sizes and 2.
Filippa has conducted herself with the utmost professionalism, despite such obvious and ludicrous prejudice, and in the face of Ralph Lauren further besmudging her by running an ad that has been grossly photoshopped. I find it almost ironic, if it wasn’t so tragic, that out of all of this, it’s further proof that models don’t really look like their photos. All photos are photoshopped to make the model more/less shapely, pretty, tall, thin, darker, lighter and with or without freckles or beauty marks. Modeling is a crazy industry!

activemum: After losing my job I have time and my kids always wanted to try modeling so we tried going to open calls at local agencies. They were so disorganized and didn't have a good client list. I tried this out to make sure we weren't wasting time. Now that I know we're on the right track, I've sent my girls' photos to regional and national agencies and got a call back just weeks later. It's fun but you need alot of patience! Good luck!
Mark: Thanks guys! I wasn't sure about the type of modeling to do and thought messing up would make me look stupid. Now I'm going to my first casting call.
Samantha: The best money I ever spent. I almost wasted $100's to find out if I could make it as a fashion model.
